St. Patrick's Family Fun
Feeling Irish On St. Patrick's Day we can all FEEL IRISH!!! On St. Patrick's Day you don't have to be Irish to enjoy the spirit of the day. Every holiday is a good excuse to celebrate. Holidays are a good time to add some fun and enjoyment to your life. Celebrating each holiday is our way of celebrating life. It does help if you look good in green, believe in wee-folk and enjoy a bit of sausage and cabbage. Geather your clan and celebrate the spirt of the day with some Irish food because everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day. Every holiday is a good excuse to celebrate. There are more St. Patrick's Day parades held in the United States than in Ireland. Celebrating each holiday is our way of celebrating life. Fun menu ideas for your wee-folk on St. Patrick's Day Breakfast: Green Eggs and Ham You can only get away with dying scrambled eggs and ham with green food coloring on St. Patrick's Day. The kids get a big kick out of it. Especially the Dr. Seuss fans. Make shamrock biscuits to go with them. You will be the best mom ever. You can use a shamrock cookie cutter and a package of Pillsbury Grand Biscuits. If you are Super Mom you can make the biscuit from scratch.
Lunch: Leprechaun Sandwich Lunch on St. Patrick's Day should be green, too. Make the leprechauns a green grilled cheese sandwich by putting some green food coloring in to the pan of melted butter . After cooking the sandwich (wait until they have cooled) cut into a shamrock shape with a shamrock cookie cutter. If your leprechauns don't like grill cheese you can make any sandwich they choose and use a shamrock cookie cutter to shape the sandwich.
Dinner: Cabbage and sausage-(recipe can be found in the Recipe Section) For dinner on St Patrick's Day make a pot of sausage and cabbage. This is a twist on the traditional Irish meal of corn beef and cabbage. You will be surprised how good this is. Use biscuits or rolls, cut into the shape of shamrocks are a perfect addition to this soup. Using a can of Pillsbury biscuits is easy, open, separate each biscuit and push cookie cutter into each. These are so fun and easy that kids want to help with dinner. A festive drink for this holiday is a mint hot chocolate. Make it special by adding a mountain of canned whip cream and a small shamrock pick.
Treats: Shamrock Krispies Make a batch of rice krispie treats (recipe can be found in the recipe section) leave regular color or add green food coloring to the melted marshmallows before pouring it over the Rice Krispies. Form mixture in to a cookie sheet making the mixture level. Cut out shamrocks with a shamrock cookie cutter.
Mint Brownies are another fun treat for St. Patrick's Day Make your favorite brownies. Make frosting, mix in green food coloring and some mint to taste. Frost the brownies with the mint frosting.
